C is for Cake

I've been using memory clues to help my children remember the sounds of the alphabet since I started teaching the oldest one how to read. Since I've always associated the letter c with a birthday cake (minus one piece) I decided to depart from the example at Totally Tots for our letter c craft.

My son had a great time coloring "fire" on a plain sheet of paper, from which I cut little flames for the candles. Since he just celebrated his birthday a couple of weeks ago, he identified them at once and immediately began calling his whole picture a "birthday." Sigh! I guess I should have used this one for the letter "b."

I've created a coloring page for this craft that you can also use as a pattern if you'd like to copy what we did. You can download it from my page at Homeschool Launch.
